Serum lipid values are reported as milligrams per deciliter or millimole per liter.
mmol/L is the SI unit (Systeme International d'Unites) which is in standard international measurement system.
In the US and many other countries, the values for serum cholesterol are reported as mg/dL, while Europe, Australia and some other countries, use SI units.
